Shapleigh Board of Selectmen
Minutes of Meeting – Time 6:00 pm
July 13, 2021
Call to Order
Chairman Scott E. Cudworth called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm William J. Mageary and Michael J. Cote in attendance. Also in attendance was Karla B. Wilcox the Town Administrator and Joanne Holland the Office Assistant.
Harold Cebulla, Nancy Small, Joanne Bargioni, Duffy Gold and Mike Demers.
Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Approval of minutes from previous meeting:
Selectman William J. Mageary made a motion to approve the minutes for July 6, 2021 as presented; seconded by Scott E. Cudworth. Michael J. Cote abstained from voting since he was absent on July 13, 2021. No further discussion. All in favor. Motion carried.
Volunteer Appreciation: Nancy Small and Harold Cebulla:
Scott E. Cudworth presented certificates of appreciations to Nancy Small and Harold Cebulla stating "At this time, We would like to thank our volunteers, Nancy Small and Harold Cebulla for their generous contribution to the Town of Shapleigh. We are sincerely grateful for their time, their service and their knowledge. Our Town relies on the hard work and dedication of our volunteers like yourselves. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed. We value you and can't thank you enough". Duffy Gold thanked the Board of Selectmen for the kind gesture.
i. Rescue Squad By-Laws
The Town Administrator presented to the Board the Rescue Squad By Laws. The Town administrator stated legal had reviewed the language and made recommendations, those recommendations have been added to the by-laws. William J. Mageary made a motion to table until next Board of Selectmen meeting so the Selectmen can review the documents; seconded by Michael J. Cote. No further discussion. All in favor. Motion carried.
I. Vacation Request - Town Administrator
The Town Administrator presented to the Board a vacation request for August 12, and August 13, 2021. William J. Mageary made a motion to approve the vacation request; seconded by Michael J. Cote. No further discussion. All in favor. Motion carried.
II. Earned Paid Leave Request - CEO
The Town Administrator presented to the Board the Earned Paid Leave request by the CEO for July 26 - July 31, 2021. Michael J. Cote made a motion to approve the earned paid leave request; seconded by William J. Mageary. No further discussion. All in favor. Motion carried.
III. Bottles located at the Shapleigh Elementary School
Scott E. Cudworth brought to the Boards attention the bottles located at the Shapleigh Elementary School are all over the ground and wanted to know if the people that retrieve them are still interested in doing so. The Town Administrator stated that the Shapleigh PTC oversees the drop box. She will reach out to them regarding this concern. William J. Mageary asked if the Boy Scouts where still interested in placing a box to collect the returnable's, the Town Administrator stated she does not believe so.
IV. Cost for annual inspection of Fire Extinguishers
William J. Mageary brought to the attention of the Board Johnson Controls invoice and the amount that they charge for each location (4) at $100.00 service fee for each location and stated that he would like to see all fire extinguishers brought to one location to be inspected so the Town is only charged for one location. William J. Mageary is willing to handle this for the Town in 2022.
V. Zachary Face Firefighter 1 & 2
The Board of Selectmen sent their congratulations to Shapleigh Fire Fighter Zachary Face for obtaining his Firefighter 1 & 2 certification.

A motion was made by Michael J. Cote to adjourn at 6:14 pm; seconded by William J. Mageary. Motion passed unanimously.
