Minutes of Meeting – Time 6:00 pm
October 5, 2021
Call to Order
Chairman Scott E. Cudworth called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm William J. Mageary and Michael J. Cote in attendance. Also in attendance was Karla B. Wilcox the Town Administrator and Joanne Holland Office Assistant.
Jeff Goodwin and Roland Legere.
Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Approval of minutes from previous meeting:
Selectman Michael J. Cote made a motion to approve the minutes for September 28, 2021; seconded by William J. Mageary. No further discussion. All in favor. Motion carried.
· Roland Legere asked the Board if they have received the Maine DOT inspection report on the Emery Mills Bridge for 2021, the Town Administrator informed Mr. Legere that information is on the Town's website.
· Mr. Legere is also concerned with the price increase on the Atlantic Broadband internet and broadband service.
· Mr. Legere stated that he supports the idea of the Road Commissioners positions be appointed rather than elected. The Town Administrator stated that the Board will discuss this matter further during the budget season.
i. Fill In Transfer Station Attendant and Handyman Position
The Board of Selectmen held a interview with David Sargent for the fill-in attendant at the Transfer Station position and handyman position. William J. Mageary made a motion to hire David Sargent for both positions at the rate of $13.00 an hour; seconded by Michael J. Cote. No further discussion. All in favor. Motion carried.
ii. Emery Mills Bridge Guardrails and Post - Jeff Goodwin
Road Commissioner South- Jeff Goodwin updated the Board on the Emery Mills Bridge guardrails. He stated that there is a few cracks in the welds (nothing serious) that he can weld to fix the problem of movement.
iii. PSB Repairs - Insurance Claim - Update
The Town Administrator updated the board on the PSB repairs. The repair quote from Glover Constructions came in at $650.00 and the insurance company approved the estimate. William J. Mageary requested to have the Town's handyman look at it to see if it is something that he can repair and if not then the Board will go ahead with Glover Construction. Also the dryer vent has not been installed. The Rescue Chief will follow up on the install of the vent.
Michael J. Cote had stated that he would like to see the Board do annual tours of Town facilities. The Town Administrator stated that the MMA Risk Pool Rep. does do a yearly inspection and forwards a report to the Board of Selectmen. The Board agrees that they should also attend the yearly tour of all town facilities. Also, in late October the Selectmen need to inspect the plowing contractors trucks and plows.
I. CEO Request for Vacation Leave
The CEO requested time off from October 20, 2021 to October 22, 2021 for vacation. William J. Mageary made a motion to approve the requested time off from the CEO as presented; seconded by Michael J. Cote. No further discussion. All in favor. Motion carried.
William J. Mageary asked if we could get the speed trailer winterized. The Town Administrator has already contacted the York County Sheriff's office to do so.
ii. CEO Vacation Request
Any other business that the Chairman may wish to bring before the meeting: None
A motion was made by Michael J. Cote to adjourn at 6:15 pm; seconded by William J. Mageary. Motion passed unanimously.
